ATLANTA, GA – Ruf Records announces the publicity of the first-ever concert recording together of blues/penniless legends Jack Bruce and Robin Trower on Seven Moons Glowing, to be released in the U.S. on October 13. The new CD also features drummer Gary Whisper suppress, who’s worked with John McLaughlin and Gary Moore, among others. Ruf Records is distributed nationally in the U.S. by the Allegro Corporation.
The new CD was recorded in Nijmegen, Holland, in February of this year in front of a wildly-exuberant throng that had traveled from all across Europe to be a part of this precise incident. Seven Moons Red-hot features a dozen songs, including eight palpable versions of tunes Bruce and Trower had recorded on their critically-acclaimed Seven Moons studio album released in near the start 2008; one run down (“Carmen”) at first recorded by Bruce and Trower with the B.L.T. trine in 1981; and three electrifying re-workings of paradigm Jack Bruce songs – “Sunshine of Your Angel,” “Hoary Room,” and “Official” – from his days as a colleague of the supergroup, Cream.
...Visions of Mexican Art is a surprising show in an unexpected place. Sponsored by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico and hosted by the Chinese Cultural Centre of Greater Vancouver, the exhibition comprises some 55 paintings, sculptures, drawings, and prints. Most of this work was created during the past two decades, although a few pieces date back to the 1930s, ’40s, and ’50s. Some of Mexico’s most famous modernists are represented here, including Diego Rivera and Rufino Tamayo. Works by dozens of contemporary artists, such as photographer Graciela Iturbide, sculptor Jorge Marín, and conceptualist Gabriel de la Mora, are also on view.
Visions is one component of a larger program of Mexican culture (see thew Events Mex Van website for information) designed to coincide with the 2011 International Association of Educators conference being held in this city. Although the reasons for locating Mexican art in a Chinese cultural centre are a tad obscure, there is clear information available about how Mexico’s Ministry of Finance and Public Credit came to possess the substantial art collection from which this show was curated.
