His “just fun, different way to look at literature” hobby has escalated into a 10,000 book collection. His collection of comic books can be found on the shelves in his very own comic book room at his home.
“There is a room that is specifically comic books.” Schleicher said. “My wife embraces what I like doing. For my birthday one year she bought me a 7-foot, life-size Batman statue, which stands in the room. My son, the first time he saw it, he was scared. Now he wants to say ‘hi’ to batman, so he will walk in and say ‘Hi Batman, Hi Batman,’ and then he will leave.”
Along with a Batman statue and 10,000 copies of comics, the room also has action figures and a chair for Schleicher to enjoy his many comics.
Schleicher’s comic book hobby took a turn in July 2006. According to Schleicher, he was sitting around looking at the web here at FHSU. He realized he had a background writing for the Web and also had a passion for comic books. He came to the conclusion that he should launch a Web site covering comic book history in a way he thought was different than what other mainstream comic book enthusiasts were doing. He stated that the Web site has taking off from there.
