A nice-looking and durable superhero figure (part of the cool new DC Universe line)
I don't know much about the character Shazam!, but I'm a fan of the new 3-3/4" DC Comics superhero action figures and thought I'd grab this one for my superhero collection. (I already had a Superman, Flash, Batman, etc. And Shazam! looks pretty cool.)

Shazam! bends at the knees and elbows. His legs move at the hip. His shoulders have ball & socket joints, his head rotates, and he can turn at the waist. It's reminiscent of old-school action figures. (The shoulder joints being a nice upgrade.) There are no spring-loaded action moves and the figure isn't overly articulated. I think this simpler design makes the DC Universe: Infinite Heroes line more kid-friendly than some other action figures out there these days.

The figure is made of a durable plastic and should withstand a good deal of play. Shazam's cape is made of a rubbery plastic and is glued onto the figure's back. The toy doesn't come with any weapons or accessories. Just Shazam! himself, dressed in his traditional comic book costume.

A nice addition to a toy chest and a nice-looking superhero toy.

What's great about the new DC Universe: Infinite Heroes (by Mattel) and Marvel Universe (by Hasbro) action figure lines is that a wide range of popular superheroes and villains are being released together. In both cases the no-frills figures are designed from their classic comic book appearances, rather than from recent movies or stylized animated TV series. And they're all 3-3/4" scale, too. So you can get the classic superheroes from both Marvel and DC and play with them together in one all-star adventure. And the Star Wars action figures are the same size, too. These new toys break down barriers. Characters from all these different fictional mythologies can co-exist in playtime imagination.

I'm excited about the new lines because of the simpler design of the figures (back to the basics) and the standardization (in size and quality) of characters from throughout the comics. (Everyone under one roof, so to speak. Not limited by what movies or TV shows they're in.)
Little Shazam!
It's been awhile since I got some superhero actions figures that are actual toys rather than just plastic statues. About the size of old Star Wars figures, 3-3/4" scale, the "DC Universe Infinite Heroes" are fully poseable, with great colors and sculpting.

As a huge Captain Marvel fan, I am really glad to see such a great figure. He is wearing the post-Kingdom Come variation of the costume, with gold belt, lighting symbol and arm bracers, but with yellow boots. The cape is a little on the long side, and not really Captain Marvel's half-cape but more of a full Superman cape, but that is a minor complaint. The sculpting is not too detailed, but looks great for the size.

Posability is limited to the arms and legs. There are full knee and ankle joints, with ball joints for shoulders. He can rotate at the hip but not at the neck. The cape isn't removable, but is soft plastic so it doesn't get in the way.

I am really pleased with this figure, as well as with enemy Black Adam. I don't think that any more Marvel Family figures will make it into this set, because DC seems to be concentrating on the DC Universe Classics line now, which also has a Captain Marvel release.

Retro blue & gray Batman costume - very cool
This figure is part of Mattel's new line of 3-3/4" action figures based on DC Comics heroes and villains. The toys are modeled after the classic comic book appearances of the characters, rather than any stylized cartoon show or recent film. Another thing that's cool about these figures is that they are the same scale as many other popular action figure lines (Star Wars, Marvel Universe, Indiana Jones, etc.) and all of these different characters can team up for playtime adventures.

I also like the back-to-basics approach of these DC figures. The toys have limited posability (like the action figures from days gone by), but they are made of a durable plastic and are built for fun. The figures have joints in the knees, hips, waist, elbows, shoulders, and neck. The shoulder joints are ball-and-socket joints, a nice upgrade for the otherwise old-school design.

But I enjoy these figures for their no-frills simplicity. No gimmicky armor or accessories. Just the hero/villain in his/her classic costume.

This Batman action figure (Series 1, Figure #34) comes in his retro outfit: gray tights, blue cape & cowl, and the yellow & black oval "Batman" symbol on his chest. This is the costume I grew up knowing and the figure looks great.

It is worth noting that this is the exact same figure as the other Batman (Series 1, Figure #11), but with a new paint job. But I think it is an improvement. (That figure had a gray & dark navy blue outfit with a large black bat across the chest.) I prefer this old-school paint job, but the sculpt of the head doesn't quite match. It's the same head from the other figure and it makes Batman look really tough. Almost mean, furrowed brow and all.

Batman's cape is made out of a rubbery material (glued on) and the rest of him is made out of a durable plastic. This should be safe for children and should withstand normal amounts of action.

I am a big supporter of these new toys, for their classic character depictions and simplistic yet fun designs. Many of your favorite superheroes are available, and Batman is one of the most important ones to add to your collection. I'd recommend buying this one (blue & gray), but that's just based on my own preferences.

3 - DC Universe Classics 5-Packs (Seeing the genuine Lex Luthor as opposed to of this was a suffered redress, but unfortunately there reasonable isn't enough new produce in these 5-packs to establish me increase. At $5-$10 cheaper, I would heed buying this easy, but it's hardly any cheaper than buying 5 mortal figures, and to me, that's unconscionable when I'm committing to buy 5 at once.) Toy Spot - DC Universe Infinite Heroes Batman

What's wrong with Marvel and DC comics these days...?

Big_E asks: What's recidivate b fail with Marvel and DC:
Here is what I don't like, that I can think of right now anyway...
I guess there will always be the poser of trying to explain why after 50 years Batman is still in his primeval 30's. I hear they are making Batman a New God to take care of the maladjusted.
I don't like the new Blue Beetle either. Poor Ted Kord. Miracle Woman is now a murderer too.
I don't like seeing the characters shift as much as they have. Some things I don't mind but it seems like when they are going to veer off the footpath, Man do they!

Parallax.
Death and rebirth of Jolt of the Thunderbolts
Superman with large hair and an attitude
All the different lanterns of various colors (this one I have compassion for incline a little indifferent about, but when you look back at the history, OA was supposedly the center of everything.)
Oh, speaking of OA I don't sadness for the female Guardians of the Universe who were never there before.
Multiple Monitors.
Identity Danger (you knew at the end Atom's wife would be back as a villain) and the loss of Sue was colossal. Plus the mind wiping stuff. Heck Gape at did it to the entire Univers and no one minded.
Spidey taking off his concealment, then when Marvel realizes they screwed up royally, makes a act on with the Devil (Mephisopholese) to make everyone forget but he and Mary Jane are no more.
Infinite Catastrophe (How do you change reality...oh that's right hit a wall over and over.)
Superboy goes of unsound mind.
Bringing Back Barry Allen, (who died a hero to come to someone's rescue the mult-verse) and Hal Jordan
The Initiative.
Iron Man hunts down and puts in stir any other hero who doesn't go along with the Keene act, I mean the Mutant registration act,...I presage the Superhuman Registration Act. Because after all it's the law. After the Skrull invasion, Iron Man is blamed because his Bleak industries technology failed as the invasion began. Iron Man became an robber and was told to give up since, you know, it is the law. Iron Man goes on the run and tries to unimpeded his name.
Death of Captain America after a drawn out process by the writers to demonstrate he is no longer of any value and that he is outdated. You know because he was brought out of the ice and still has the mindset of someone from the 40's who distrusts Nazi's. (hmmm Red Skull, Baron Von Struker, Baron Zemo....) no point to distrust Nazi's these days...right.
The whole Idea of the Illuminati (Dr. Outlandish (Sorcerer Supreme), Namor (King of Atlantis), Professor Xavior (Bandmaster of X-men), Iron Man (An Avenger, Rich, and Leader of Shield), Evil Bolt (Leader of the inhumans, living on the moon), Mr. Unlikely (Leader of the first Super Hero team in marvel and the first Marvel people the Fantastic four, Also one of the top scientific minds in Marvel.) These 6 are secretly competition everything? Is this a very heroic thing? Years ago, they decided it was a good impression to attack the Skrull homeworld to teach them a lesson and admonish them not to come to Earth again. This really backfired when they were captured and their DNA was copied. Here comes the latest Skrull transgression...
The Illuminati also tricked Hulk into going into space and launched him off to live out on a peaceful planet forever...for his own good of course. Here comes Over the moon marvellous War Hulk, yeah, not a good idea to make Ol' Immature skin angry is it...
Hulk after coming back deciding to choose the villains/heroes (Iron man, Dr. Strange, Mr. Fantastic, and Black Do a moonlight flit) go through what he went through on the Planet Sakarr as if to teach them a lesson. At least he gave the thumbs down when asked if they should electrified or die. Should have been the world breaker.
Jason Todd brought back to sentience...
Death of the Martian Manhunter for no reason at all...by a no-name villain.
Marvel saying No more smoking in comics, Wolverine now chews on a toothpick.
Animal has evolved one step too far for my liking. He looks like an animalistic now, which is probably what they wanted....you know he is a Beast.

Gosh I can go on and on....

here is what I've seen recently that I DO like:
Thunder has married Black Panther
Sentry has potential
I relish the Thunderbolts when they first started, storyline really dwindles around effect 50 or so.
Robin, Tim-Drake, is still cool.
The Young Avengers, If only they had Heraldry sinister out the two openly gay characters.. .
I like the revamping of old obscure characters, or fascinating old "lame" characters and making them upright again. Captain Cold recently.

What I'd like to see:
I wish they would do a undeniably good Aquaman story.
I would like to see a good Angel (the X-men) storyline.
More movies based on the Enthusiastic Stories each have had. (I'd love to see Secret Wars done).
Exceptionally looking forward to the Watchmen movie.

Parker answers: Popinjay, these comics are turing to crap, and fast! They are totally messing up the fundamentally of the characters, the one that got me them most was "one more day" I hate the comic with a passion, I relish spidey, they ruined his life man, they did.
