Awesome toy!!
This is another awesome figure from Dc Universe classics line. Have a lot attention to details specially his weapon...making him a real King of Atlantis. Overall is a fun action figure to play with or just to display it in your bookshelf.
Aquaman Chews Trident
This is Aquaman from wave 7 of the DC Universe Classics line. He's wearing his blue "camouflage" suit that didn't catch on. Note, he is not a variant of Aquaman from wave 2 but part of another wave altogether.

The figure is solid and fun. Based on the standard DCU body he sports great articulation, ball joint neck, ball shoulders, pin elbows and his hands rotate, tilt and cut waist joints, the great hip joints that allow forward and back and side to side movement without making the sculpt look funny, pin knees and ankles. In summary, a great amount to get plenty of cool super hero poses without over doing it or hurting the look of the figure.

It is a typical super hero body and there is nothing about the sculpting above normal on this one. His face is recognizable as Aquaman with the sculpted blonde hair and something of a regal and tough expression.

They've done a clean job on the paint and there really are no flaws. This costume doesn't compare with the classic but it is interesting. Light and dark blues, black and white all mixed into a watery camouflage pattern. It's very clean and well done. No complaints on the face or hair either.

Last are accessories. He has his trident and it is very nice. Gold with blue highlights and lots of cool little detail it makes a great addition to make the figure more dynamic. It's not some chintzy little thing either it is thick and tall. He can hold in either hand or both. It's good for fighting Black Manta, another figure with a great trident.

He also has a piece of Atom Smasher the collect and connect (read: build a figure) for this line. He's a big dude, about 9" tall, and sports great sculpt, articulation and paint all his own. He's worth it if you're interested in buying the entire line at all. If not then you'll have an extra arm or leg or head just hanging around.

Overall, a really good looking and fun figure. Only if you don't like the outfit does it disappoint.
This figure is simply the best.....
This particular Aquaman figure is special because it shows Aquaman in the suit he wore in a fabulous 4 Issue Limited Series from some time ago (80s I think). I loved the series and this figure is a great one for any fan of Aquaman or of special DC figures. I really like the suit and it makes sense he would where some camo in some of his adventures. I believe the late Neal Pozner wrote the series with Craig Hamilton providing the art. These two dudes did a great job with the series and it had more substance in it than just about anything that followed. Out of their great work, we have a truly awesome looking Aquaman figure that is still awesome without sporting the orange and green.

Aquman Figure
This is truly a beautiful figure of Aquaman wearing a lesser known costume. I'm happy that DC would make the effort to make such a figure. My only complaint would be that the head size is too small relative to the body size.
DC Universe Classics: Aquaman the Ocean Warrior
Based upon Aquaman's much-maligned costume redesign for a DC Comics four issue mini-series from over twenty years ago, I must admit that Mattel knocked this figure out of the park. It is simply superb!! Since DC Comics eliminated this funky water camouflage uniform as soon as the mini-series was over (in other words, it bombed with fans), it is a real surprise that the "Ocean Warrior" motif would be resurrected this way for an action figure vs. using Aquaman's more recent barbarian appearance.

I certainly give DC and Mattel ample credit for diversifying its selection of possible costumes for such an iconic character like Aquaman. Frankly, I really like the multiple hues of blue interwoven in the costume's design, and the use of a "magical" trident as the included accessory. The figure's overall sculpting is terrific, especially his face which has all the necessary detail to make him appear as believable as possible. With some figures, the facial features seem like a mere afterthought, and thus the lack of attention can potentially ruin a terrific figure. In this instance, however, Mattel clearly made the effort, and their rendition of Aquaman here is definitely on a par with the usually more elite DC Direct brand.

As I've said in other reviews, I am certainly not an expert on articulation points, but, fortunately, the figure can stand easily enough without a support base and has at least a minimal number of poses. That's all I really need in terms of articulation as a collector.

For what it is worth, on a scale of 1-10, Aquaman as the "Ocean Warrior" rates an easy 10. Assuming you can find one, it is well worth a reasonable investment for collectors seeking action figures that meet the dual criteria of novelty and substantive quality.

ok
DC classics are some of the best toys for DC. The problem with most of them though is the legs tend to be a bit loose. This one is no exception. The legs are loose in that they don't want to stay together in a standing upright pose. And when you put the trident in his hand, he becomes unbalanced. But I am a diver, so I have to have Aquaman.

The Craziest Gear Changes in Comics

The growth of Iron Man from his unwieldy true trial to the stylish look happened over the conduct of several redesigns, including a gold conception of the inventive, the "Mellifluent Centurion" armor of the '80s, and Football Pants.

Oh, Sue Tornado. I don't identify what bedevilled someone to redesign your apparel as a swimsuit with a behemoth "4" cut out over your cleavage. Oh on the back burner serve, yes I do. As you might guess, the Veiled Lady-love's vestment reverted back to the bodysuit that Jessica Alba later donned in the movies, and the "4" clothing now lives on only in disgracefulness.

By far one of the most risible garments changes in comics adventures, Speedball was a apt-go-favourable teen celebrity who made colorful vitality bubbles, until one of his teammates accidentally blew up 612 civilians. He renamed himself Reparation, as now dresses in a metal gimp befit with 612 internal spikes that spike him every on one occasion he moves. You identify, as a hair-shirt.

Sporting a hometown Blue Jays baseball cap, Dan DiDio led a lively and sometimes raucous DC Universe Editorial Presentation Saturday at Fan Expo in Toronto, Canada.

DiDio, the DCU Executive Editor, opened the panel discussion with a series of slides featuring the company’s heavyweights, Superman, Batman, Green Lantern and Flash, and said that coming out of Grant Morrison’s “Final Crisis,” he and the rest of the editorial staff really wanted to look at the key franchises in 2009.

“We looked at what we believe to be the cornerstones of the DC Universe. We looked at Superman, and that’s one of the reasons why we went and started to create the ‘World of New Krypton’ story and basically everything goes to be leading into 2010 with that storyline. We’re pretty excited about the way it’s being built but more importantly, what’s coming down the pipe.

“We made the changes with Batman, which hopefully everybody is reading [huge chorus of cheers]. And for us with the introduction of Dick Grayson - and I fell it’s the introduction of Dick Grayson as Batman, because people can say ‘Prodigal’ was the first time he put on the costume but this is the first time he’s really taken over the role and made it his own. We wondered how people would react and so far it’s been great.”
